| In 1605 Guy Fawkes and his cronies attempted to blow up the Protestant King James in order to replace him with a Catholic sympathiser. The failed plot is celebrated annually on November 5th with fireworks and the burning of an effigy. Kids raise money by making 'stuffed life size guys' and asking 'penny for the guy'.... he is then tossed on top of the bonfire and burnt. Yikes! |
